Educational Objectives
The courses taught by the Department of Oral Microbiology are Human Immunology, Human Microbiology, and Microbiology Lab. Human Immunology covers the composition and function of the immune system, which is responsible for the body's defense against microorganisms, as well as immune diseases. Human Microbiology covers the characteristics of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of various infectious diseases, with a particular emphasis on microorganisms related to oral diseases (dental caries, periodontitis, etc.). During Microbiology Lab, students engage in hands-on practice regarding bacterial staining, microscopic observation, pure culture methods, and antibiotic susceptibility testing. Through these comprehensive courses, students cultivate the ability to accurately diagnose and treat various infectious diseases, including oral diseases.
